Meet the Therapist

Anindita Chatterjee (she/her) is a feminist, queer-affirmative therapist, relationship counsellor & dance movement therapy facilitator. The Poetry Room is her labour of love and vehicle of resistance.

With a foundation in analytical psychology, Anindita integrates dance movement therapy, expressive arts, somatic techniques, and mindfulness to foster deep emotional well-being and psychological resilience. Her expertise lies in navigating the complexities of mental health within the South Asian cultural landscape, addressing nuanced intersectional challenges with precision and empathy.

Anindita is affiliated with the St. Jude’s Childcare Centre, an AIIMS-affiliated halfway home for cancer survivors, and the Naz Foundation LGBTQIA+ Delhi Centre, which provides critical support to the queer community.

She possesses extensive experience in guiding individuals through major life transitions such as including career change, moving countries, complex relationship dynamics, marriage, motherhood, long-term partnerships, co-parenting, mixed-family dynamics and divorce.

Anindita holds a double master’s in Psychology and Communication from Sheffield Hallam University, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Gargi College, Delhi University. She is trained in the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy modality from The ISTDP Centre India, a process grounded in exploration of a person’s emotional processes and a strong focus on solution-orientation

She is a Gottman Institute-trained Relationship Therapist and a CID-UNESCO accredited Dance Movement Therapy Facilitator, bringing a rare synthesis of scientific inquiry and artistic exploration to her practice.

Additionally, as an ICF-certified Behavioral Coach, Anindita has spent over a decade working with C-suite executives and leadership teams across Fortune 500 companies globally, driving sustainable, human-centric growth and development strategies. 

As a dance movement facilitator she works with in embassies, NGOs, halfway homes, supporting trauma survivors through movement-based therapeutic interventions, aiding in their emotional healing and recovery.

Prior to her career in mental health, she built a formidable portfolio as a journalist, media strategist, and creative mentor, and worked in prestigious organizations such as the BBC, Sesame Street, Reuters, Arabian Radio Network, the Indian Embassy and The Times of India Group across the UK, India, and the UAE.
